Deep dive
Okomu Oil Palm Plc was incorporated in 1976 as a federal-government oil-palm scheme in Edo State, privatised in 1990 to the Belgian SOCFIN group, and listed on the NSE in 1991. It is the larger of the two NGX-listed integrated oil-palm operations (with Presco), and one of the few Nigerian agro-industrial concerns producing both crude palm oil and palm-kernel oil at industrial scale for the domestic and export markets. The SOCFIN parent links Okomu into the global Bolloré/SOCFIN plantation network.
