Nnamdi Azikiwe — Senate President

First Senate of the Federation. Ascended the Presidency on 1 October 1963; succeeded as Senate President by Dennis Osadebay.

Jaja Wachuku — Speaker, House of Representatives

First Nigerian to be appointed Speaker (1959), continuing into Independence; later first Foreign Minister.

Joseph Wayas — Senate President

Second Republic. Removed by the December 1983 military coup.

Edwin Ume-Ezeoke — Speaker

Second Republic House Speaker; coup of 31 December 1983 dissolved the National Assembly.

First Senate President of the Fourth Republic. Removed via impeachment on 18 November 1999.

Salisu Buhari — Speaker

Removed on 23 July 1999 over the 'Toronto certificate' affair; resigned and was later convicted.
