ADC Airlines (Aviation Development Company), founded in 1984, was a major domestic operator through the 1990s. The 7 November 1996 crash of ADC Flight 086 (Boeing 727, Lagos–Abuja) killing 144 — including the Sultan of Sokoto Ibrahim Dasuki Maccido and the Minister of Sports Yusuf Aliyu Pam — and the 29 October 2006 crash of Flight 053 (Boeing 737, Abuja–Sokoto) killing 96 are among the worst single-aircraft losses in Nigerian aviation history.
