What keeps it alive
Brussels hosts the EU institutions — the EU-Nigeria relationship is partly mediated through Belgium. The EU is Nigeria's largest trading partner bloc. Some Nigerian diplomatic engagement happens in Brussels rather than bilateral capitals. Belgian Congo (DRC) independence in 1960 was contextually significant for Nigeria's own independence diplomacy.
