Yemi Osinbajo (b. 8 Mar 1957, Lagos) is a professor of law (Unilag), Senior Advocate of Nigeria (1998), and founding partner of Simmons Cooper Partners. He served as Lagos State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General under Governor Bola Tinubu, 1999–2007 — the platform from which the 2015 VP slot was offered.

As VP he was sworn in as Acting President twice in 2017 (during Buhari's London medical absences), making executive decisions including the dismissal of the DSS DG Lawal Daura after the August 2018 National Assembly siege. He chaired the Economic Sustainability Committee whose June 2020 plan framed the federal COVID-19 response.

He sought the APC presidential nomination at the June 2022 Eagle Square convention, finishing third behind Bola Tinubu (the eventual winner) and Rotimi Amaechi. He left office on 29 May 2023 and returned to private legal practice and the climate-finance circuit (Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet).
