Mrs Oludolapo Christianah Osinbajo (née Soyode, born 1960 in Ikenne, Ogun State) is a lawyer and educationist, the wife of Vice-President Professor Yemi Osinbajo SAN (29 May 2015 – 29 May 2023), and the granddaughter of Chief Obafemi Awolowo — Premier of the Western Region (1954–59), Federal Commissioner for Finance (1967–71), and one of Nigeria's three nationalist founding figures. Her mother was Tola Oyediran (née Awolowo), the second daughter of HID and Obafemi Awolowo. Educated at Queen's School Ibadan, the University of Lagos (LL.B. 1983, called to the Bar 1984), she practised commercial law at Awolowo & Awolowo before turning to children's education. She married Yemi Osinbajo in 1989; the marriage produced four children, including the artist Damilola, Kanyinsola, Fiyinfoluwa and Oluwadolapo.
She was the longest-continuously-married Wife of the Vice-President in the Fourth Republic and one of the most institutionally engaged. Her flagship work was the Reading Spaces initiative — a national children's-literacy programme operating reading clubs in over 200 federal-government primary schools across the 36 states, in partnership with the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation and the Cuso International literacy programme. She co-founded the Mass Education Foundation (1991, with the Awolowo Foundation) and ran the Vice-Presidential Wife's Initiative for Adolescent Girls' Mentorship through Aguda House. She is also an ordained pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God under Pastor E.A. Adeboye.
Her tenure spanned the Buhari medical absences of 2017 (50 days) and 2017 (104 days), the helicopter crash that nearly killed her husband at Kabba, Kogi State (2 February 2019), the 2020 #EndSARS protests, the failed 2023 APC presidential primary in which Osinbajo lost to Bola Tinubu, and the consistent Aso Rock vs Aguda House tension that defined the second Buhari term. She maintained, throughout, the Awolowo-tradition of restraint, programme focus, and Yoruba-Christian social conservatism. Her cultural and political pedigree — the Awolowo grand-daughter married to the SAN turned VP turned APC presidential aspirant — made her the most aristocratic Wife of the Vice-President in the Republic's history. Since 29 May 2023 the Osinbajos have lived at their family residence at Bourdillon Road, Ikoyi, Lagos. Her Reading Spaces programme continues under the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation.
