- 1967–1970 — Biafran War. Benue–Plateau sits on the federal side; Tiv and Idoma units (notably the 4 Infantry Brigade) bear heavy casualties in the Mid-West liberation (1967) and the recapture of Onitsha. Igala Bassa and southern Idoma villages are repeatedly raided by Biafran patrols.
