Why it is on record

Built and operates the Egina FPSO (commissioned 2018), at the time the largest FPSO ever built and the single largest oil-and-gas investment in Nigerian history (~$16bn).

Record held

Egina FPSO: largest single oil-and-gas project in Nigerian history.

Deep dive

TotalEnergies EP Nigeria operates the deepwater Akpo, Egina and Preowei fields (OML 130) — including the 2018 Egina FPSO, then the largest FPSO ever built. Its onshore footprint through the former Elf Petroleum has progressively been divested. The 2024 sale of its onshore Nigerian Agip Oil Company stake and the broader European IOC exit from Niger Delta onshore production is the central restructuring story of the 2020s upstream.
