Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC), the Coca-Cola bottler in Nigeria since 1953, is the largest single bottler in West Africa. Controlled by Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company (Greece-based, LSE-listed), NBC operates plants across Nigeria and is the institutional vehicle through which the Coca-Cola system reaches the Nigerian consumer. The 2017 controversial NAFDAC court case over benzene formation in Fanta and Sprite was the most significant regulatory dispute in its history.
