Deep dive

Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, the Nigerian arm of the German construction group Bilfinger Berger (now spun off independently), has built more of federal Abuja than any other contractor — the Eagle Square, the National Mosque (partial), the Aso Villa expansion, the AKK gas pipeline civil works, the Second and Third Mainland Bridges, the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway upgrades, and major sections of the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway. It is the institutional contractor of the federal capital and the most consequential single foreign-controlled infrastructure firm in Nigeria.
