Colonial (1900–1960)

  • 15 February 1902 — Fall of Bauchi — WAFF column under Col. T.L.N. Morland storms Bauchi; Emir Umaru deposed; Hassan dan Yakubu installed under indirect rule.
  • 1908–1930 — Tin-mine labour conscription — colonial Native Authority forced-labour drafts from Bauchi villages to the Jos tin fields; documented in the Lord Lugard Papers and in W.R. Crocker's *Nigeria: A Critique of British Colonial Administration* (1936).
  • 1929 echo of the Aba Women's War — Bauchi Native Authority taxation protests in Toro and Ningi districts; no fatalities recorded but Resident's Report (1930) acknowledges 'unrest in the southern districts'.Impunity Loop
  • 1948 — Sayawa tax revolt — refusal of jangali (cattle tax) collection at Tafawa Balewa; resolved by NA reorganisation.
