The record

Mustafa Adebayo Balogun — popularly known as Tafa Balogun — was IGP from March 2002 until his suspension in January 2005 over an EFCC investigation into the looting of police funds.

He was charged in 2005 before the Federal High Court Abuja with money laundering and theft. Under a plea bargain he forfeited assets valued at about ₦17 billion (approximately ₦15 billion in cash and property recovered).
