Lady Grace Hannah Macpherson was wife of Sir John Stuart Macpherson, Governor 1948–55. Her tenure spanned the Iva Valley Massacre of 1949 (Enugu coal miners), the Kano Riots of 1953, and the negotiation of the 1951 Macpherson Constitution and the 1954 Lyttelton Federal Constitution that introduced ministerial responsibility.
She patronised the Queen's School Ede, the Federal Government Girls' Colleges then being established, and the post-war expansion of midwifery training under the Lagos Maternity Hospital scheme. She was the last Governor's wife to preside at Government House Lagos before the Governor-General's residence moved to a separate official compound in 1955.
