Hajiya Amina Namadi Sambo (née Yelwa, born c.1955 in Zaria, Kaduna State) is an architect by training (B.Sc. Architecture, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, 1979) and was the wife of Architect Mohammed Namadi Sambo, Vice-President of the Federal Republic from 19 May 2010 to 29 May 2015 — the only architect-couple in Nigerian executive history. Before Aguda House she ran an Abuja-based architectural practice in partnership with her husband and served on the board of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA), Kaduna chapter.
Her tenure as Wife of the Vice-President was conspicuously low-volume, in pointed contrast to the maximalism of Dame Patience Jonathan at Aso Rock. She declined to assume a parallel BLP/FSP-style federal programme, declined a separate Office of the Wife of the Vice-President secretariat, and confined her public role to the Kaduna-based women's education work of her Amina Sambo Foundation — building girls' schools at Zaria, Sabon Gari and Funtua, and underwriting the Sambo Maternal Health Initiative at the ABU Teaching Hospital. The Sambo approach was widely read as a deliberate refusal of the Patience Jonathan model.
After 29 May 2015 she returned to architectural practice in Kaduna and to the Sambo family compound at Zaria. Her husband became the PDP's National Vice-Chairman (North-West, 2017–22) and a perennial gubernatorial aspirant in Kaduna State. She has not appeared in federal political life since 2015; her foundation continues to run a network of girls' schools across Kaduna State.
