Olawale Edun, born 1961, is an investment banker and the founder of Chapel Hill Denham. He served as Commissioner for Finance of Lagos State under Tinubu from 1999 to 2004.
Appointed Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy on 21 August 2023, he has led the post-subsidy-removal fiscal framework, the May 2024 federal pay rise, and the dollar-liquidity reforms accompanying the Naira float.
His tenure has coincided with the highest sustained inflation since the structural adjustment era, with headline inflation peaking at 34.19 percent in June 2024 (NBS) before moderating.
