Akinwumi Adesina (b. 6 February 1960, Ibadan) was Vice-President (Policy and Partnerships) at AGRA before his ministerial appointment.
He designed the Growth Enhancement Scheme — the electronic-wallet system for fertiliser and seed distribution that bypassed the legacy fertiliser-procurement racket. The scheme reached 14.5 million smallholders by 2015.
He was elected 8th President of the African Development Bank in May 2015 and re-elected unopposed in 2020.
