ABC Nwosu (b. 1942) of Anambra State was Minister of Health from 1999 to 2003, then Minister in the Presidency and Senator (Anambra Central) from 2007 to 2011.
The National Health Insurance Scheme Act was passed in 1999 under his stewardship, though the Scheme only became operational in 2005. The Act was succeeded by the National Health Insurance Authority Act 2022, which converted the scheme into an authority and made health insurance mandatory.
