Osun is monolingually Yoruba, but is the only state where every Yoruba dialect — Ife, Ijesha, Osogbo, Oyo — meets at a single religious centre.

- The Ife Yoruba dialect is the ritual register of Ifa divination, recited identically in Cuba, Brazil and Trinidad — making Ife one of the few cities whose ritual language is spoken on three continents.
