1810s — Afonja's revolt at Ilorin against the Alaafin.
1823 — Afonja killed by his Fulani allies; Ilorin Emirate established under Abdulsalami.
1840 — Battle of Osogbo. Ibadan-led Yoruba coalition halts the Ilorin/Fulani southern advance — the strategic event that prevents the Sokoto Caliphate absorbing the Yoruba forest belt.
16 February 1897 — Battle of Ilorin. Royal Niger Company forces under Goldie defeat the Ilorin army.
1898 Anglo-French Convention divides Borgu (Bussa, Nikki, Illo) between French Dahomey and British Nigeria.
