Kaduna is the most linguistically diverse Hausa-administered state. It spans the northern Hausa heartland and the southern 'middle-belt' Plateau-branch languages.

Notable literary and political moments#
- The Hausa Bayajidda legend (recorded in the 19th-century Kano Chronicle) gives Zazzau its founding place among the Hausa Bakwai 'seven legitimate states'.
