Bordered by Niger State (north and west), Kaduna State (north-east), Nasarawa State (east and south) and Kogi State (south-west). Area: 7,315 km² — slightly smaller than Lagos State. The terrain is dominated by the Gwagwa Plains and the granite inselbergs of the Aso, Zuma, Gurara and Bwari complexes. The Gurara River is the principal watercourse.
