Created 1976; HQ Ijero-Ekiti; NW part of Ekiti State; area 473.5 km²; 2006 pop. 165,099. Component towns: Ikoro, Ipoti, Iloro, Odo-Owa, Ijurin, Ara, Epe, Araromi, Oke-oro, Iroko, Ayegunle, Temidire, Ilukuno. Borders Moba, Ido-Osi, Irepodun/Ifelodun, Ekiti West LGAs and Ila-Orangun LGA (Osun State) to NW.

Sub-stools within Ijero LGA include: • Alararomi of Araromi-Ekiti — rules Araromi-Ekiti (formerly Era), whose founder Dada Awuru was a younger prince of Ajero from Ita Ajero quarters in Ile-Ife. • Eesalokun of Ilukuno-Ekiti — Ilukuno is a town within Ijero LGA; a new Eesalokun (Oba Gbenga Adebowale Agbaje-Gorite) was installed April 2026 by Gov. Oyebanji from a dynasty whose last reign was over 450 years ago.
