The record
Mohammed Adamu was IGP during the most consequential protest movement of the Fourth Republic. Following the viral video of an alleged SARS killing in Ughelli in early October 2020, nationwide protests forced him to dissolve the Special Anti-Robbery Squad on 11 October 2020, replacing it with a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team.
The Lekki Toll Gate shooting on 20 October 2020 occurred during his tenure.
