Dame Patience Faka Jonathan (née Faka) — the Bayelsa-born wife of Goodluck Jonathan — was already 'Mrs Vice-President' through the 2007–2010 Yar'Adua Vice-Presidency; her elevation to Hon. First Lady on 6 May 2010 following Yar'Adua's death merely formalised the public role she had occupied for three years. The 'Hauwa' attribution that appears in some early-Fourth-Republic press files is a misreading of the public record and is not used in any official Federal Government source; it is preserved here as a navigation marker only.
There was no separate Vice-Presidential consort. From 2007 to 2010 Patience Jonathan ran the Aguda House women's programmes — the Wells of Hope Children's Cancer Foundation, the Women for Change & Development Initiative (which she would later formalise as Hon. First Lady), and a series of Niger-Delta-focused widows' empowerment schemes — operating from the official Vice-Presidential residence at Aguda House, off Aso Drive, Abuja.
