Hajiya Ajoke Muhammed was the wife of General Murtala Ramat Muhammed, Head of State from July 1975 until his assassination on 13 February 1976. She was First Lady for less than seven months.
She retreated into private life after her husband's death and rarely appeared in public. Her family continues to manage the Murtala Muhammed Foundation, established in her husband's memory.
