Why it is on record

Deep dive
Owena Glass Industries Limited was incorporated in 1982 by the old Ondo State government (under Governor Adekunle Ajasin) as a state-owned manufacturing concern producing glass containers and tableware. It was one of a cluster of indigenous state-led manufacturing ventures of the Second Republic and a flagship of the Awoist developmental-state tradition in the South-West.
The plant operated through the 1980s and 1990s and entered protracted decline through the SAP-era industrial collapse. It is recorded here as a representative of the state-owned indigenous industrialisation experiment that defined the early Awoist Second Republic in the South-West.
