The record
Geoffrey Onyeama (b. 1956, Enugu) — son of Justice Charles Onyeama of the International Court of Justice — was Deputy Director-General of the World Intellectual Property Organization before his appointment.
He led Nigeria's positions through the African Continental Free Trade Area negotiations (signed 7 July 2019) and the diplomatic response to the xenophobic attacks in South Africa of September 2019, which prompted Nigeria's largest peacetime evacuation of its citizens abroad.
