Ibrahim Magu, ACP from Borno, was nominated by Buhari but twice rejected by the Senate in December 2016 and March 2017 — yet retained in acting capacity for nearly five years.

He was detained and suspended on 6 July 2020 after a DSS report alleging diversion of recovered funds; the Salami Judicial Panel of Inquiry was established to probe his tenure.
